Solar Panel Cleaning

Before cleaning - lots of pollen and debris buildup has accumulated on the panels

Solar Panels

Choosing to add solar panels into your home electric system is a major investment and as with all investments requires some (minimal!) routine maintenance to keep it operating at peak performance.

Just like any surfaces, solar panels can accumulate dust, debris, insect and bird droppings, and other build up over time which will reduce the effectiveness of the solar cells in absorbing and converting light into energy for your home. Especially in climates like Western Washington where sunlight can be sparse at certain times of the year, maximizing the effectiveness of your panels is extremely important for increasing your output, reducing your energy bill, and making the most of your investment.

Routine professional solar panel cleaning will help extend the life of your panels, increase their efficiency and help keep your energy bills low throughout the years.

Whats Included

We specialize in cleaning solar panels strictly with deionized and purified water to wash away any debris or build up that has accumulated on your panels. The ultra purified water prevents any permanent mineral deposits (also known as hard water stains) from forming on the panels after a cleaning, like you would experience if you used regular hose or tap water. We use a soft bristled, water-fed pole system that allows us to gently scrub each panel individually without damage and leaves the panels crystal clear so they maximize sunlight retention.

After cleaning - Panels have been cleared of all debris and are better able to absorb light.

Frequently Asked Questions

Won't the rain just clean my solar panels for me?

While rain can remove some of the loose debris sitting atop solar panels, just like it does not fully clean our cars or our windows from buildup, it will not fully clean your solar panels. This is why professional cleaning is still necessary even in regions with lots of rainfall.

How often should I have my panels cleaned?

In general, we recommend solar panel cleaning twice per year to maximize their benefits. Depending on the situation of your home, you may require more or less frequent cleaning. For example, if you have lots of large trees that can drop debris near your home, this can contribute to a need for more frequent cleaning.

When is the best time of year to get my solar panels cleaned?

We generally recommend solar panel cleaning in the spring to remove any fallen debris from winter storms and spring pollen before the sunniest part of the year and again in the fall after leaves have dropped to ensure your panels can maximize any light possible during the darker winter months.
